I’ve been coming to Niseko almost every year for the past 7 years (minus covid ðŸ˜). It’s truly a special place. Incredible powder snowboarding, and a super cute village with so much Japanese charm.
This year I’ll be here all March, and I’ve booked a larger chalet so there’s room to meet some cool fellow founders. You can stay for 4-10 days.
The plan
This is a casual hang to meet like-minded founders. There’s no fixed itinerary, but here’s the rough plan:
•
Hit the slopes together. If you love powder skiing/snowboarding, Niseko is the place for you! So much pow. And tree runs. All skill levels welcome. For context, I’m a decent snowboarder and I usually ride 2–3 hours per day.
•
Group dinners and drinks. Restaurant reservations can be quite difficult in Niseko, so I’ll make sure we’ve got some good bookings. You can look forward to founder/life chats with new, interesting people.
•
Chalet co-working. I’ll be working from home for at least a few hours per day. You’re welcome to join me if you’re not on the mountain.
•
Post mountain onsen. Onsen means Japanese hot spring.
The chalet
I’ve booked a 5-bedroom chalet in the heart of Niseko Village. I’m inviting people to join for 4–10 days at a time. To help offset the chalet cost, I’m asking guests to chip in $300/night for a private room. Sharing a room with a friend or partner may be possible.
Who this is for
My main goal is to have a cool group of people coming through. For me that means global, independent-minded founders — interesting people doing interesting things — and kind, thoughtful, fun people.
About me
I’ve been building startups my whole life. I spent 4 years on a wild idea to create incentives for a more open, collaborative model of academic science. I’ve developed a very profitable algorithmic trading system. These days I’m focused on Founder Travel and sister site Social Circle. You can learn more about me and my projects at jspauld.com.
I’m sharing this trip because most of my close friends have small kids now — so I’m looking to add a few people to the Japan powder life circle 😄
